Drive-in Pallet Racking

OKE Storage is an international manufacturer of Drive-in Pallet racking. It can make full use of the warehouse space and allow as many SKUs as loading lanes. Here are main features of it:

  • High-density storage solution
  • Make full use of space(Max: 85%)
  • Easy to install
  • Lowering structure costs

What is Drive-in Pallet Racking?

Drive-in Pallet Racking is a high-density storage system that requires only one aisle for loading and unloading goods. Drive-through racks load pallets from one side and unload them from the other side to store goods.

Drive-in Pallet Racking is suitable for storing large quantities of goods with few varieties, uniform packaging, and a small number of SKUs.

With 20 years of experience, OKE Storage, with its professional design team and high-quality Q235 steel, can manufacture a variety of customizable product specifications to meet your needs.

Drive-In VS Drive-Through

Drive in pallet racking (LIFO – Last in, First out)

Drive-in Pallet Racking is a high-density storage system. One side of this system is generally against the wall, so you only can load/unload goods from one side. In this case, the last one you load would be the first one to unload, so it means LIFO.

Drive through pallet racking (FIFO – First in, First out)

In this system, there are two sides for you. It is suitable for the FIFO method, which means the first load in is the first one out. Because it has two sides to work. Compared to drive-in pallet racking, this type can be more efficient for the turnover of the products.

Drive-In vs. Drive-Through
Drive In Pallet Racking Advantages

Special Advantages of Drive-in Pallet Racking

  • The same SKU as the loading lanes
  • About 10+ pallets depth
  • Make more free space
  • Customized design
  • No special forklift-type restrictions
  • Low cost than other live storage solutions
  • No strict height restrictions
  • Low maintenance and installation cost
  • With lots of accessories to ensure safety

Drive-in Pallet Racking Components

A Drive-in Pallet Racking consists of the following components:

  • Frames: Comprising horizontal braces, diagonal braces, and uprights(starting from 90*70*2.0). feature diamond-shaped holes with a pitch of 50mm/75mm, allowing for easy assembly and disassembly.
  • Bracket Beams: 3.5mm thick bracket beams directly latch into the column holes. It can be single (left and right) or double.
  • Guide Rails: Guide rails (2mm thick) are connected to the bracket beams, allowing pallets to be placed directly on the guide rails, providing support for the pallets.
  • Top Beams and Back Beams: Top beams (100*50*1.5mm) are located above the columns, and back beams (50*30*1.5mm) are installed at the back of the rack, making the beams and columns more stable.
  • Top Pulling and Back Pulling: Especially added top pulling and back pulling elements (35*24C steel) of drive-in pallet racking are installed above and behind the rack to reduce horizontal and vertical deformation of the rack, enhancing its stability.
  • Guard Rails and Guard Posts: guard rails (150*75*3.0mm U shape) and guard posts (90*70*2.0mm) are added to prevent collisions between forklifts and the rack.
Drive In Pallet Racking Basic Components

Drive-in Pallet Racking Working Principle

Drive-in Pallet Racking is easy to use. You just need to choose a suitable forklift to match your racking system.

When you load goods, drive the forklift into the racking system and put down the goods on the pallet rails. The uprights and other drive-in pallet racking components can ensure the safety of your racking system.

if you want to unload some goods, it is similar to the loading. You just need to drive your forklift into the racking and then unload the goods according to their order.

Design Source and Craftsmanship

The load capacity of the drive-in pallet racking has been calculated by our professional team. The product design is based on the standards of “Drive-In Racks” (WB/T 1045-2012), through the stiffness, strength, and torque of the steel and the permanent load, variable load, and load of the shelf. By studying the interaction effects of accidental loads, openings and local buckling, global buckling, and distortional buckling, as well as defects, we design drive-in pallet racking that bears heavy loads, is structurally strong, and has a beautiful appearance.

Our precision in shelf manufacturing: the vertical error between columns and beams is no more than 4mm/1000 mm. The total height shall not be greater than 15 mm, and the load deflection of the beam shall not be greater than 1/225 mm. The drive-in pallet racking’s column section is composed of 11-13 faces and has the advantages of large moment of inertia, strong bearing capacity, and strong impact resistance. Due to the adoption of “automatic punching first and then cold bending” technology, the possible crack failure of the column due to stress concentration on the column is completely avoided.

Among them

  • ti: the equivalent thickness of the lath;
  • t: the nominal thickness of the section;
  • Δhi: the hole spacing;
  • Hi and di: the heights of the holes;
  • wi: the width of the holes;
  • ξi: the opening influence coefficient.

FAQ

1.How many types of pallets for drive-in pallet racking?

There are many types of pallets for drive-in pallet racking. But for some customers from different areas or industrial fields, some pallets would be better to work with the drive-in pallet racking. OKE Storage can give some choices for you:

  • Euro pallet
  • American pallet
  • 2 entry points
  • 4-way entry points
  • Wooden pallet
  • Metal pallets/ Steel/Aluminum pallet
  • Reversible pallet
  • Closed pallet
  • Wing pallet
2.How many types of forklifts for drive-in?

OKE Storage drive-in pallet racking can be worked with any type of forklift. However, several issues need to be considered. You should choose the forklifts according to the width of your racking system aisle. Also, the depth of the drive-in pallet racking should be considered.

  • Standard warehouse forklift
  • Counterbalance forklift
  • Electric forklift
  • Reach Truck
  • Pallet Stacker forklift
  • Electric Pallet Jack forklift
3.What is the delivery time for shelving?

On average, it takes 15-20 days. Customized products may require more time.

4.What should I consider when using drive-in pallet racking?

For shelving in the wall area, it’s generally advisable to keep the total depth within 5 pallet depths for safety and stability. It’s not recommended to create double-deep FIFO shelving. The height of palletized goods should generally be within 2 meters, and the drive-in pallet racking height should generally be within 10 meters.

5.What is the load capacity of drive-in pallet racking?

Typically, the load capacity ranges from 500 kg to 2000 kg. Specific load capacities can be customized based on actual requirements.

6.How to Ensure the Safety of Drive-In Racking?
 Enhance drive-in pallet racking safety through regular inspections and maintenance, including forklift inspections, racking load tests, and personnel training.
7.What are the main differences between drive-in shelving and other types of shelving?

Drive-in pallet racking has beams only at the top, while several other storage shelving types have beams on each level.

Drive-in pallet racking is better for achieving high-density storage because it doesn’t require aisles between shelving groups.

Drive-in pallet racking places higher demands on pallets because forklifts need to enter the aisles, typically requiring pallet lengths of 1300 millimeters or more.
